AMANDA is sitting in front of BILLY, he hands Amanda a file folder.

BILLY

Amanda, this is a routine assignment. As you know, security checks are run annually on contractors with government contracts. It's just a little light surveillance.

AMANDA

(nodding)

Yes sir.

BILLY

Evans Aviation is reapplying for security clearance. All the employees on their MT 15 team must undergo a security background clearance. I've assigned you to Mr. Mike McFarland.

AMANDA

I'll get started on it right away.

The phone rings and Billy picks it up. Listening carefully.

BILLY

Melrose here. Okay… So, Operation Bluewire is a go.

Billy hangs up the phone. Amanda gets up to leave then turns back to Billy.

BILLY

AMANDA

Right sir… I'll just get started on this security clearance.

Amanda opens the door to the bullpen. The office is partially empty. FRANCINE is picking up some files and getting ready to leave.

INT. IFF BULLPEN - DAY

Amanda walks up to Francine.

FRANCINE

Hi, Amanda.

AMANDA

Francine, where is everyone?

FRANCINE

Ah, there on Operation Bluewire.

AMANDA

(puzzled)

Oh…

FRANCINE

Amanda watches as Francine leaves her standing in the bullpen. Billy is in the background watching Amanda then picks up the phone. Amanda slowly follows Francine then picks up her pace as she leaves.

Amanda enters the Q-Bureau, startling LEE who is on the phone.

LEE

(surprised)

I've got to go, Amanda just walked in.

Lee hangs up the phone as Amanda walks over to her desk.

AMANDA

Lee, you didn't have to cut your conversation short.

LEE

It's alright, we were finished anyway.

Lee gets up and puts on his jacket.

AMANDA

Where are you going?

AMANDA

Lee, what is Operation Bluewire?

LEE

It's on a need to know basis… I'm sorry…

AMANDA

(feeling left out)

And.. I don't need to know.

Amanda begins to pick up her purse to leave.

AMANDA (cont'd)

Are you coming over tonight?

LEE

I'll try, I'm not sure what time I'll be able to get away.

AMANDA

(hurt)

Figures… Just the way my day has gone so far… I feel like I've stepped back to civilian status again.

Lee reaches out and pulls Amanda into a hug, kissing her forehead.

LEE

I'm sorry, it's just…

Amanda is driving down side streets and roads. Amanda pulls up in front of Evans Aviation.

Amanda is in the jeep looking through the file on Mike McFarland. Occasionally looking up, next to her is a camera. She picks up the camera and takes a few pictures.

Mike drives off. Amanda puts on her seat belt and follows Mike at a safe distance.

INT. BAR/RESTURANT - DAY

Mike enters and sits down at the bar. Amanda enters and finds a booth where she can see Mike. Amanda picks up a menu casually glancing around the room, and toward the bar. Mike orders a drink then looks around the room. Noticing Amanda sitting alone he casually saunters toward her table.

MIKE

Hi. By any chance are you waiting for anyone?

AMANDA

(startled)

Hi.. Ahh.. no I'm here alone.

MIKE

Do you mind if I sit here with you?

Mike doesn't wait for her to answer and sits across from Amanda.

MIKE

Mike McFarland, nice to meet you Amanda. So, what brought you to "The Fox"?

AMANDA

Well, I was shopping earlier and thought I would stop for lunch. Have you ever eaten here before?

MIKE

I come here for lunch just about every day.

AMANDA

The food must be good then.

MIKE

It's not bad.. it's just the closest place to my work.

Mike signals a WAITER who comes to take their order.

MIKE (cont'd)

Would you like a drink Amanda?

AMANDA

A cup of Tea! Do they have tea?

WAITER

We have several blends.

MIKE

I'll have a cup of coffee, black.

WAITER

MIKE

I would like a pasta platter. Amanda what would you like?

AMANDA

A salad with a side order of blue cheese dressing.

The waiter leaves. Mike leans back, looks around the room casually and then back at Amanda.

MIKE

(flirting)

So… Tell me something about yourself.

AMANDA

Well, I have two boys.. Jamie is twelve and Phillip is thirteen. I'm divorced but I am seeing someone.

MIKE

Oh… Is it serious?

AMANDA

(nervous)

Yeah.. you could say that. So, tell me something about you.

MIKE

Not much to tell. I work at Evans Aviation. Not married, no kids.

AMANDA

Oh. What do you do at Evans Aviation?

MIKE

A little of this and a little of that. I'm an engineer.

The waiter brings them their order. Both begin eating. Mike looks around the room. A MAN walks in dressed nicely all in black. Mike gets troubled.

EXT. POST OFFICE - STREET - AFTERNOON

Amanda is still following Mike at a safe distance. He pulls up to the post office, gets out and mails a package. Amanda is taking more photos of his actions. He gets back into his car and drives down the street.

INTERCUT - EXT. BANK - AFTERNOON -

Mike enters the bank cautiously, comes back out after a few minutes. Looks around then gets back into his car. Amanda is parked a few cars away. She snaps a few more photos.

INTERCUT - INT. AMANDA'S JEEP - AFTERNOON

Amanda picks up a news paper covering her face as Mike drives away. She puts it down and pulls out following Mike.

EXT. SPORTS CLUB - AFTERNOON

Mike pulls in and opens his trunk. He pulls out a gym bag looks around and closes his trunk and goes into the club. Amanda is taking more photos. She waits for a while then gets out and follows him inside.

Amanda enters, Mike is entering the men's dressing room. Amanda locates a pay phone and calls to check in.

AMANDA

This is Amanda King could I get Lee Stetson please.. Is Mr. Melrose in? No one's in?

Amanda is still watching the men's dressing room door. Mike exits in shorts and t-shirt and heads down the hall with a racquetball racquet.

AMANDA (cont'd)

Please leave a message for Lee… Ooh…

Amanda hangs up the phone. She carefully follows Mike. The same man from the restaurant enters the doors, he also follows Mike.

INT. SPORTS CLUB - AFTERNOON

Mike is in the racquetball court, he is playing a young man in his twenties, ERIC. Amanda is watching from a distance, she notices the man from the restaurant. Mike and Eric exit the court.

MIKE

(breathing hard)

Good game, Eric. You're getting better all the time.

Mike looks up and notices the man. He is visibly shaken.

ERIC

Your just slowing down Mike.

MIKE

(nervous)

I'm going to the weight room, do you want to join me?

ERIC

I'm meeting Diane for a late lunch. After last weeks fight, I'm not gonna to make the same mistake this time.

MIKE

Oh, okay. same time next week?

(smiling)

Eric passes the man, not even noticing him. Mike hurries down the hall to the weight room. The man looks around and follows Mike. Amanda steps out from hiding and snaps a few pictures of the man. Carefully she follows both men.

INT. IFF LIBRARY - AFTERNOON

Lee enters looking for Amanda or any notes. Finding nothing he picks up the phone and calls the operator.

LEE

This is Scarecrow, did Mrs. King check in?

OPERATOR 1 (O.S.)

She called about twenty minutes ago. But we got disconnected.

LEE

(concerned)

What do you mean disconnected?

OPERATOR 1 (O.S.)

She asked for you or Mr. Melrose. She was going to leave a message but hung up.

LEE

Did she give you her location?

OPERATOR 1 (O.S.)

No. She wasn't even on long enough for a trace to go through. Is there anything wrong?

LEE

No, if she calls back patch her through to me in the Q-Bureau.

OPERATOR 1 (O.S.)

Lee hangs up the phone, looks at his watch and sits down behind his desk. He looks over at Amanda's empty desk then picks up the phone again.

LEE

Is Amanda home?

JAMIE (O.S.)

No, she's still at work. Isn't this Lee?

LEE

Yes, I seemed to have missed her at the office. She must have run out to check on a location scout. Thanks, Jamie.

JAMIE (O.S.)

Bye Lee.

EXT. SPORT CLUB - AFTERNOON

Mike exits the club still in shorts, looks around then walks toward his car. Amanda in the shadows watches the man approach Mike.

We need to talk.

MIKE

(backing away)

MAN

(angry)

It doesn't matter what you want! You have no choice!

MIKE

I won't do it.

The man grabs a hold of Mike, turning him forcibly.

MAN

Now listen to me! You will do it! You will give me the plans to MT15.

The man lets go of mike. Pulls out an envelope and hands it to Mike.

MAN (cont'd)

This will insure your cooperation Mike.

Mike takes the package and stuffs it into his back shorts pocket.

MIKE

I can't believe this is happening.

MAN

(sarcastic)

Oh, believe it.. Bye the way, I'll take care of the woman following you.

(looking around)

What woman?

MAN

The woman you had lunch with. She's been following you all day.

MIKE

(puzzled)

Amanda Keen? Why would she follow me?

Mike looks around the parking area then back at the man. Nothing looks unusual.

MAN

Why would she follow you… only one reason, the Agency already suspects your dirty.

MIKE

(angry, worried, determined)

Leave her out of this. If she's Agency, then I'll take care of her.

A courier truck drives behind Mike and the Man. "Hidden" in the background, Amanda emerges to take pictures of the exchange.

CUT TO:

EXT. COURIER TRUCK - AFTERNOON

Amanda carefully comes up to the side door of the truck. The COURIER, an older man in his forties, is sitting in the drivers seat writing on a clipboard.

I need you to drop off a package for me. Do you have a large envelope?

COURIER

Sure, just fill out the information here..

The courier hands Amanda an empty envelope and points to the addressee. Amanda fills in the address then drops in two rolls of exposed film.

AMANDA

This needs to be delivered right away. There's even a bonus if you deliver it now…

COURIER

How much?

AMANDA

(searching her bag)

How about a ten?

COURIER

Sure lady, where do I deliver it to.

AMANDA

International Federal Film. In Georgetown.

The courier takes the money and the envelope.

COURIER

It's on my way. Thanks lady.

The courier opens the door, drops the package on MRS. MARSDEN'S desk.

This is for a Lee Stetson, it's for immediate processing.

The courier leaves. Mrs. Marsden looks at the package and picks up the phone.

MRS. MARSDEN

Scarecrow, I just got a package from Mrs. King…

INT. BILLY MELROSE'S OFFICE - LATE AFTERNOON

Billy, Francine and Lee are looking over the pictures Amanda has taken.

BILLY

Francine, has Amanda checked in recently?

FRANCINE

No. The last time was earlier this afternoon when she hung up.

Billy, I'm worried. That's not like Amanda.

BILLY

Billy is flipping through the pictures and stops on the one of the exchange. He hands the photo to Francine.

Lee looks at the picture in Francine's hand. Then takes it from her.

LEE

Billy isn't this Ramadan?

BILLY

I thought Ramadan was still in prison. Francine run a check on Ramadan. See if anything comes up on the NCIC.

Billy hands the stack of photo's to Lee.

FRANCINE

Already on it Billy.

LEE

If it is, Amanda could be in trouble and not even know it.

BILLY

Lee, go find her.

FRANCINE

Ramadan wouldn't stand a chance with Amanda. She would talk him to death.

Mike pulls up in front of a small apartment building. Carefully looking around he spots Amanda in her jeep. He enters the building's main doors. Amanda follows him a few seconds later, checking the area as she enters the main doors.

INT. APARTMENT BUILDING ENTRANCE - AFTERNOON

Amanda enters the building mail boxes line the wall next to a staircase and hallway. Amanda carefully looks at the mail boxes. Mike steps out from around the corner into the shadows.

MIKE

Well, hello Amanda.

Amanda jumps and turns around. A nervous Mike steps out of the shadows.

AMANDA

(startled)

Ah… hi, Mike

Amanda and Mike are sitting in a corner drinking some coffee. Mike is very nervous and is playing with his coffee cup. Amanda quietly waits for Mike to talk.

MIKE

(quietly)

Amanda, I really need your help… You're Agency aren't you?

AMANDA

What kind of help?

You've been following me all day. That man you seen me with…

MIKE

Well, he's trying to bet me to steal top secret plans.

He's black mailing me…

Amanda reaches across the table and touches Mikes hand for comfort.

AMANDA

How's he black mailing you?

MIKE

Well, it seems he found out about this girl I used to date a few years back… well, it turns out she was KGB.

Mike takes a sip of his coffee. Looks at Amanda nodding for him to continue.

So, now he's manipulated my bank account and he has photo's of me with her. He's got it all set up to look like I've been giving her secret information for the last two years.

AMANDA

Mike, do you think the KGB is behind this?

MIKE

I really don't know… Anja and I were just friends.

AMANDA

Do you think Anja compromised your position at Evan Aviation?

MIKE

I don't think so, I never brought home any work and we never discussed what I do. I really don't think Anja has anything to do with this.

AMANDA

Let me call my partner, well figure out what to do.

Amanda walks over to a pay phone. Mike still looking nervous waits at the table drinking his coffee.

INT. IFF - BULLPEN - AFTERNOON

At a desk in the center of the bullpen, OPERATOR 1 gets up leaving the phone with a temporary operator, OPERATOR 2. OPERATOR 2 puts on a head set.

OPERATOR 1

(smiling)

I'll be back in a few minutes.

OPERATOR 2

Take your time.

The phone rings and Operator 2 picks up the line, waves bye to Operator 1.

OPERATOR 2

International Federal Film.

AMANDA (O.S.)

Lee Stetson please, this is Amanda King.

OPERATOR 2

Lee is working on Operation Bluewire. Could I take a message?

AMANDA (O.S.)

(sighing)

Yeah, tell Lee to meet me at Beans Coffee House on 3^rd and Vine. It's very important he gets this message as soon as he gets in.

OPERATOR 2

I'll give him the message.

Operator 2 writes down the message. Operator 1 comes back with a stack of papers. She looks down at the message.

Lee, needs this priority 1. Call him on the car phone.

Sure thing. Have you noticed the way Scarecrow has changed lately?

OPERATOR 1

Seems like he's slowing down or he has finally been hooked.

Operator 2 dials the phone number.

OPERATOR 2

I think our Scarecrow has a "thing" for Mrs. King.

OPERATOR 1

(smiling)

All she has to do is reel him in…

Operator 2 nods as Operator 1 sets down the files and leaves.

Scarecrow, just received a message from Mrs. King…

INT. BEANS COFFEE HOUSE - LATE AFTERNOON

Amanda and Mike are sitting at the table watching the door. Lee enters looking around the room and spotting them smiles and walks over.

AMANDA

(smiling)

Hi Lee, this is Mike McFarland.

LEE

(relieved)

Hi. Amanda I've been looking all over for you.

Lee pulls up a chair and sits next to Amanda.

AMANDA

Lee, Mike is in trouble. He's asked us for our help.

MIKE

Amanda, said you could help me. I don't have much time.

LEE

You’re the one in this picture with Ramadan.

AMANDA

Who?

LEE

Ramadan, When your pictures came back I recognized the man in the photo with Mike. Ramadan is a very dangerous man, Amanda.

Amanda looks over at Lee, obviously in love. Mike looks from Lee to Amanda noticing the underlying feelings.

Sure. What is it that Ramadan wants?

MIKE

He wants the plans to MT15. He's getting very impatient too.

LEE

MT15?

MIKE

The MT15 is a top secret military spy plane. We are almost ready for the military to begin testing it.

AMANDA

So partner, got any ideas how to stop Ramadan?

LEE

Just so happens that we are working on it. Let's get Mike to a safe house and go see what Francine and Billy have come up with.

Amanda turns back to Mike and Lee. Catching Lee's comment.

MIKE

So this is the lucky guy?

AMANDA

(smiling)

Francine and Billy are going over some papers for Operation Bluewire. Amanda and Lee walk in, catching them off guard.

FRANCINE

(smug)

Well, look's like our housewife turned spy has survived. Turning a simple assignment into a full out mission.

(disgusted at Francine)

Francine, I'm not even going to get into that now. Sir, how are we going to help Mike?

Billy looks from Amanda to Francine then shrugs at Lee, amused by Francine's behavior.

BILLY

We haven't been able to locate Ramadan, but our sources say he's been in town for about a week.

LEE

Do you think he has found an accomplice yet?

BILLY

Chances are, he already has got a backup plan. Now that we have McFarland, he's going to have to go for it.

Lee notices the papers on Billy's desk. Amanda sits down in a chair.

LEE

Any changes on Operation Bluewire?

BILLY

Nope, I'll let you know more later. Right now take Amanda home.

AMANDA

(rambling)

Sir, Mike said that Ramadan knows who I am, or rather, who I work for. He thinks my name is Amanda Keen.

BILLY

Okay, Well put you in a safe house for now. Ramadan is a very dangerous man. Only one person has ever gotten away from him and lived to tell about it.

I'll put Amanda up at my apartment. That way if Ramadan comes after her, I'll be there to catch him.

FRANCINE

Kind of cozy Scarecrow…

Billy cuts off Francine.

BILLY

Francine. What did you find out on Ramadan. How did he get out?

FRANCINE

Looks like a KGB agent by the name of Anja.

AMANDA

Anja? That's the name of the KGB agent Mike had been dating two years ago. At the time he didn't know she was a KGB agent. When he found out, he stopped seeing her.

Amanda gets up and follows Lee to the door. Lee opens it and Amanda exits first.

I'll be glad when Operation Bluewire is over.

BILLY

I know what you mean Scarecrow, it's hard keeping it away from Amanda.

LEE

You've got that right!

EXT. LEE'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Establishing WIDE SHOT of Lee's apartment. Lee's silver Corvette parked out front. Lights shine from the windows. CLOSE IN on Lee's apartment window.

Amanda is cleaning up the living room, Lee is following her around collecting items Amanda hands to him.

I'm not trying to keep information from you. I was worried. When I seen the photographs you had taken…

Amanda cuts him off.

Lee, I'm just doing my job. I thought you respected that.

LEE

I do respect you, you're a good agent.

Lee walks over to Amanda caressing her cheek.

Amanda puts her hands on Lee's chest.

Did he hit on me… He just flirted a little… But, I told him I was seeing someone.

So, that's why he thought it was me.

Lee has his arms wrapped around Amanda, still in bed. The alarm clock reads six twenty nine am flips to six thirty as a buzzer sounds. Amanda stirs.

What time is it?

LEE

Six thirty.

AMANDA

What time did Billy say he was coming over?

LEE

I think six something…

Lee sits up straight in the bed. Looks at Amanda and back at the clock.

Billy's going to be here any time. Amanda get up.

Lee get up walks to the bathroom door.

Billy, Lee, Francine and Amanda are sitting down. Billy hands some papers to Lee.

This is what we have on Ramadan, his last know location and accomplice. We don't have much more information on Anja.

Billy gets up and motions to Lee to follow him. They walk to the doorway

Mike is pacing back and forth. Lee is standing next to the window looking out. Amanda is sitting on the couch.

It's not that. I don't know if I can pull this off.

LEE

MIKE

Look Lee, the MT 15 plans are very top secret. I don't feel right giving them to Ramadan.

LEE

Billy will have some phony plans made up, he won't notice the difference.

Well, maybe we should make it easier. I think you should go back to the restaurant. Since you eat there every day, it's a good bet he will find you there.

Lee comes over to Mike who has sat down on the couch by Amanda.

EXT. BAR/RESTAURANT - AFTERNOON

From down the street Amanda watches the front of the bar. Lee pulls up with Mike and they enter the bar. Across the street sits a stakeout van. From this view Amanda can watch the whole stakeout.

Lee is sitting at a booth in the back. Mike is sitting at the bar. Across the room is Francine and JOHN STONE.

Mike sits nervously at the bar playing with his glass. The bartender, Billy, refills his drink.

MIKE

I sure hope this thing works. Are you sure these papers will fool him?

BILLY

The door opens and a couple walks in. She sits down in a booth near the door. He walks over to the bar.

MAN

Two white wines.

He nods to Mike then walks back to the table. Mike turns around looking at the room. He gets up and walks over to the man.

MIKE

How do I know you will leave me alone if I give you the MT 15 plans?

The man motions for him to sit down.

ANJA

Billy brings over the two glasses of wine.

Fine. Inside with the pictures is the location I have chosen. The rest of the instructions are there too.

Mike looks inside and pulls out a piece of paper.

MIKE

When this is over I never want to see you again.

RAMADAN

I own you Mike… I always have.

He drinks his glass of wine and gets up, Anja following.

ANJA

Come alone. No fool hardy agents like that Mrs. Keen.

They walk out the door. Mike just sits looking at the photo's of his mother, father, brother and sisters.

EXT. BAR/RESTAURANT - AFTERNOON

Amanda is still watching as the couple exits. They get into a sedan and drive past the van. Carefully Amanda pulls out and follows at a distance.

EXT. WAREHOUSE - AFTERNOON

The sedan pulls up next to the warehouse. Ramadan and Anja get out and go inside, not noticing Amanda who pulls up just down the road from the warehouse. She gets out and follows carefully.

CUT TO:

INT. WAREHOUSE - AFTERNOON

Row after row of metal racks line the warehouse. Boxes and crates stacked neatly on shelves. Electrical supplies stacked on shelves and paint supplies. Amanda follows Ramadan and Anja who prepare for Mikes arrival.

RAMADAN

He still may not come alone. Do you have plan B ready?

ANJA

Yes, just remember where the back exit is and they won't be able to follow.

Amanda looks around the warehouse. Carefully and quietly she picks up a spool of blue wire. She carefully unwinds it attaching it to the bottom of the shelving unit's leg. She unwinds the wire across the row to the other shelving units legs. Pulling it taught she attaches it to the other leg. She weaves it across the row again leaving the wire spool on the side. Looks up and notices the breaker box on the wall.

INT. WAREHOUSE - AFTERNOON

Mike enters the doors and following the directions weaves his way back to where Ramadan and Anja are standing. In his arms is the MT 15 plans. Lee follows carefully behind, followed by Billy and Francine. Lee gestures to Francine to spread out to the right.

INT. WAREHOUSE - AFTERNOON

Amanda is watching from above as Lee and Francine follow behind Mike. Placing a bucket next to her she ducks down as Mike gets closer. Ramadan and Anja watch him approach guns in their hands.

RAMADAN

The MT 15 plans.

MIKE

Yeah.

RAMADAN

Good. Toss it over here.

Mike tosses the rolled plans to Ramadan. He unrolls them and looks at them.

ANJA

They real?

RAMADAN

Looks like you pass.

Ramadan re rolls the plans. In the background Lee moves in closer gun poised.

From behind a crate Lee aims at Ramadan.

LEE

Drop the plans Ramadan.

ANJA

It's a set up.

Ramadan fires at Lee. He runs toward the rows. The lights go out leaving the warehouse mostly in the dark. Lee runs toward Ramadan.

LEE

You can't get away.

Ramadan runs toward the back exit, running down the row he trips on the taught wire, dropping his gun. Lee closes in behind him. He gets up as Lee tackles him shoving him back to the floor fighting.

CUT TO:

INT. WAREHOUSE - AFTERNOON

Amanda watches Anja work her way through the rows. As she steps below, Amanda dumps the bucket of red paint down on her. Stopping her in her tracks. Francine steps from around the end of the row, looks down at Anja and back up the shelves. No one is there, then Amanda pops her head up smiling at Francine.

Francine escorts a red paint soaked Anja back to where Billy and Lee have Ramadan. Billy is looking at the blue wire puzzled.

FRANCINE

Look what I caught.

BILLY

What happened to her?

FRANCINE

She did.

Francine points to Amanda who steps from behind the row of boxes. Billy looks at the wire and begins laughing. Lee looks over at Amanda sternly but smiles.

BILLY

I should have known.

LEE

Amanda, I thought I gave you an order.

AMANDA

Well, I just had a hunch and when Ramadan came out of the bar with out the plans…

Amanda is working at her desk. She closes the file folder and gets up to take it into the vault. Lee's phone rings, Amanda picks it up.

Amanda picks up a folder sitting on Lee's desk.

The room is decorated for a private party. Billy, Lee and Francine are all sitting at a table. Other agents are around the room. A cake sits on a table next to a few wrapped presents.

BILLY

Any trouble getting her to come?

The room quiets down and the lights are turned down low. Lee, Francine and Billy get up with the rest of the agents.

AMANDA

Amanda kisses Lee.

LEE

Amanda leans over and whispers in Lee's ear. Winking he picks her up.
